Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ remix featuring Selena Gomez has achieved chart history by becoming the first Nigerian song to stay on the U.S. Billboard for a year.
During a recent interview on UAE’s The Kris Fade Show, Davido expressed his astonishment at how the song secured a position in the Top 5 on the charts.
The singer emphasized the incredible global growth of Afrobeat and expressed pride in seeing artists like Rema thriving on the international stage.
Davido said, “Years ago, I’d never ever think a Nigerian artiste would have a Top 5 record in America. Rema has had Top 5 records in America for like the past eight months, non-shaken. Everybody has dropped but he’s in Top 5”.
KanyiDaily recalls that Davido recently congratulated Rema after he defeated him to win the“Best Afrobeats Song” category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in the USA.
