KanyiDaily recalls that former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick had criticized Davido for his failure to perform at the event despite receiving a payment of $94,600.
Pinnick revealed that the organizers had also arranged for a private jet costing $18,000 for Davido, but he did not show up.
The former NFF president went on to state that, due to Davido’s absence, the organizers had to substitute him with another artist, Shallipopi.
Reacting on his Instagram story, Davido clarified that he had informed the show organizers in advance about his unavailability.
The singer apologized to his fans who attended expecting his performance and assuring them of a future, grander event in Delta.
He wrote, “To my lovely fans in Warri that spent their hard-earned money to come out apologies that you had to experience this.
“I was not going to be physically able to make it and this had been communicated to ‘them’ for a longgggg while now I mean MONTHS ago but for reasons best known to them, they continued to promote the show using my name. It’s a shame.
“But especially for my fans out there, don’t worry, you know I gotta bring Timeless to Delta State. We will do it proper, bigger and better.”
This comes after Davido vowed not to refund the $94,600 paid to him to perform at the 19th edition of the Warri Again festival.
