In a video shared on his Instagram page, Davido was positioned at a distance from the lawmakers, and introduced by the Senate president as a special guest.
Identified as a Nigerian-American artist hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, Davido received a standing ovation and warm welcome from the lawmakers, who applauded him unanimously.
In response, the music star graciously acknowledged their gesture with a wave of his hands.
The Senate president highlighted Davido’s musical achievements, emphasizing his global impact beyond Atlanta, Georgia.
Davido, sharing a clip from the meeting and a copy of his proclamation letter, expressed gratitude for being recognized as an “Outstanding Georgia Citizen.”
He wrote, “This morning I attended the U.S State of Georgia General Assembly meeting with the Georgia House of Representatives and Georgia State Senate to be recognized as an ‘Outstanding Georgia Citizen’… God is good.”
The proclamation letter, signed by Brad Raffensperger, Secretary of State of Georgia, acknowledged Davido as a Goodwill Ambassador and extended courtesies for his travels worldwide.
“May this Outstanding Citizen be afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in his travels to other states, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever he may hereafter travel or reside. Thank you for your service to our State,” the letter read in part.
It is worth noting that Davido is a citizen of the State of Georgia by birth. He was born to Nigerian parents in Atlanta, the state capital.
