KanyiDaily recalls that Emeka Ike recently opened up about his departure from acting and the challenges he faced in his first marriage.
The actor alleged that his ex-wife, Suzanne Emma, caused him significant financial losses in property over accusations of abuse.
The movie ‘Malaika’ premiered in Lagos on December 17 and is set for theatrical release on December 22.
In an interview with TVC, Toyin Abraham disclosed that she actively pursued Ike for the role, facilitated by her manager.
The actress said that despite Ike’s past mistakes over a decade ago, she believed he deserved a second chance and was unafraid to take the risk, seeing him fit for the role.
Abraham mentioned that she had been in contact with Emeka Ike since the previous year, acknowledging his extended hiatus from acting.
She expressed her willingness to offer him an opportunity, emphasizing that everyone deserves a second chance, even if mistakes were made in the past.
Toyin Abraham said, “I have been talking to Uncle Emeka since last year, I know he has been off for a long time, everything we heard; then obviously I was not as big as this so I sent him a message.
“My manager Otunba Seun got his number for me and I said come back and he said ‘what if’…everything that happened,’ I said do not worry even if you did it you have suffered enough, 13 years, it is okay, it is fine.
“I am not saying you did, I was not there but even if you did it is okay, 13 years. I do not mind taking risks, it does not matter because I see you in this role because I feel everybody deserves a second chance. It is okay.”
KanyiDaily recalls that a video had gone viral in which Toyin Abraham was seen with a shy yet beaming smile as she surprised Emeka Ike in his hotel room.
