The body of the late village head was found in the forest near a mountain in the area early Sunday morning, January 7.
Sani Adamu, a source from the area, said late Jauro Gambo was buried at Jaka Da Fari Graveyard in Jalingo around 3pm Sunday
The source said that sixteen individuals, including seven women, are still being held by the bandits, who have demanded a ransom of N1 million for each of the sixteen victims
The Taraba Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the village head’s killing. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Yorro Local Government Area also affirmed the bandits’ involvement in the murder of Village Head Malam Kabiru Gambo.
