In a post shared on her Instagram story, Doyin David revealed that her decision was prompted by a disheartening report about an American pastor who embezzled $1.3 million from his congregation.
Expressing her dismay about the story, the reality star lamented the declining standards within Christianity, citing the outrageous actions of the American pastor as a prime example.
Sharing a screenshot of the news article, the BBNaija star highlighted her concerns about the erosion of moral integrity within certain religious circles.
She questioned the credibility of sermons in today’s context, emphasizing that incidents like the one involving the American pastor contribute to a diminishing faith in the sanctity of religious institutions.
The reality star criticized the apparent acceptance of such misconduct within some congregations, expressing her disbelief that people would defend such actions as divinely ordained.
Doyin reflected on the deteriorating state of faith, remarking that enduring certain sermons requires a level of naivety or ignorance. She said the incident involving the American pastor serves as a stark reminder of the need for a higher moral standard within religious communities.
“People ask me why I no longer go to church….ridiculous things like this is the reason. Just imagine this one saying God asked him to steal and you’ll find people in his church who will defend this madness.
“The standard keeps getting lower and lower by the day, it’s almost as if you have to be just plain stupid to be able to sit through certain sermon these days. God is really patient,” Doyin David wrote.
