The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Ladi Adebutu, are contesting the outcome of the March 18, 2023, governorship election, challenging the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress in the election.
Justice John Okoro and a five-member panel of the Supreme Court reserved judgment in the case last Thursday after the parties had presented their final briefs.
Tunde Oladunjoye, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ogun State, expressed the party’s confidence in securing victory.
“Election petition is prosecuted in the court and not in the media. PDP and its serial governorship hopeful lost the elections when the Ogun people refused to gamble with the future of our state. they lost at the tribunal when the judges unanimously confirmed the election of Prince Dapo Abiodun. They lost at the Court of Appeal and are bound to lose at the apex court because you can’t put something on nothing,” Oladunjoye said
The Publicity Secretary of Ogun PDP, Dr. Sunday Solarin, said, “Our strong optimism about the victory at the March 18, 2023 gubernatorial election is not a mere wish but a tenacious belief in hard work, acceptability and sincerity of purpose.”
Kanyi Daily recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, winner of the governorship election in the state.
