President Tinubu’s visit follows participation in a wreath-laying ceremony for the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja.
Touching down at the Sam Mbakwe Airport around 1 pm on Monday, Tinubu was warmly received by Governor Uzodinma, accompanied by other prominent government officials and leaders from the South-East state.
The President, whose aircraft landed at 1:19 pm, inaugurated the 10-kilometer Bola Tinubu Drive at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport as his first official duty in Imo.
Following the commissioning, Tinubu, leading a significant delegation of Nigerian dignitaries, proceeded to the Dan Anyiam Stadium for the swearing-in ceremony.
Among those present at the airport reception were the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu.
Governors including Babaji Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Alex Otti (Abia), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Rev. Ft Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Lucky Aiyedatiwa (Ondo), Francis Nwifuru (Ebony), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), and Ahmad Sokoto (Sokoto) were also in attendance.
Notable personalities such as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite; Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji; former Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, and Hon Uche Ekwunife were present.
President Tinubu, accompanied by his Principal Private Secretary, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, and other close aides, proceeded to the Dan Anyiam Stadium to partake in the inauguration ceremony.
