Two Brothers Murdered In Anambra, Corpses Dumped Inside Car Booth

The discovery of two bodies, allegedly murdered and left in the trunk of their Toyota Corolla along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway near Tempo Mills, Umunya, Anambra State, has triggered panic among the residents and passers-by.

The bodies were identified as two brothers, Onyema and Nonso, believed to be returning home after attending a church program along Oguta Road, near Upper Iweka, Onitsha.

This comes a couple of days after reports about two bodies, believed to be those of a yet-to-be-identified couple, found along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Umunya

While Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, confirmed the discovery of the couple’s corpses in the car trunk on the expressway, he informed journalists that “Police personnel attached to the Oyi Division led by the DPO at about 7:30 am on 24/1/2024, recovered two lifeless bodies, abandoned in a car booth along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

“The operatives also recovered the abandoned vehicle and some expanded cartridges at the scene. Meanwhile, the bodies have been deposited in the morgue and investigations have commenced.”

However, when contacted on Tuesday, Ikenga could not confirm the identities of the corpses reported to be those of two brothers, despite several attempts to do so.

According to a cleric, Venerable Emmanuel Onovo, both deceased brothers were identified as members of the Anglican Communion in the state. Onovo, based in Aguleri, mentioned this in a post on his Facebook page

He wrote, “They are my two sons in the Anglican Children’s Ministry, Omogba, Onitsha years back. I called their parents yesterday to offer them prayers.”

Another Facebook user wrote, “Two blood brothers kidnapped and killed in Anambra State yesterday…Ala Igbo has eaten their flesh and drank lots of their bloods. They attended a church programme at Oguta Road, Onitsha as I was told yesterday only for them to be found at Umunya junction in the trunk of their car!!! Negodu men. This is really really heartbreaking.”

The motive behind the killing of the two brothers remains unclear, with speculations suggesting that they might have been brutally murdered by kidnappers, possibly due to concerns about recognition or facing resistance from the victims

Kanyi Daily recalls that no less than 10 shops and a residential building were consumed in a fire incident near the Afor Nkpor Market, along Oraukwu Crescent/Nkpor Old Road, within the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
