Boko Haram Destroys Two Transmission Towers in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has said that suspected Boko Haram insurgents destroyed two 330 KVA power transmission towers in the state, leaving residents of Borno and Yobe without electricity.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesperson for the Command, made this statement during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Saturday.

Abdulkarim clarified that the transmission towers provided electricity from Gombe to Yobe and Borno State.

He stated that the attackers were believed to have used improvised explosive devices to destroy the facilities in the early hours of Saturday

The transmission towers are located in Kasaisa in Damaturu Local Government Area of the state and supply electricity from Gombe to Yobe and Borno.

“The destruction has plunged residents of the two states into darkness, ” he said.

Kanyi Daily recalls that Boko Haram insurgents conducted a series of attacks in Yobe State’s Damaturu Local Government Area, resulting in tragic loss of lives and property destruction.
