The footage, shared by The Hollywood Reporter’s Chris Gardner, showed the rapper being escorted through Crypto.com Arena by police.
According to a statement from a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson to the Associated Press, Killer Mike was arrested after an altercation inside Crypto.com Arena around 4 pm, where the Grammy Awards were held.
The hip-hop artist, whose real name is Michael Santiago Render, had earlier secured victories in three significant categories: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Album for his 2023 studio album, “Michael.”
As of Sunday night, Killer Mike was booked for misdemeanor battery and was reportedly “in the process of being released.”
Further details about the incident were sought from the artist’s representatives, the Recording Academy, and the LAPD.
