KanyiDaily recalls that Bobrisky was arrested and convicted in March by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on four counts related to naira abuse.
The controversial crossdresser was sentenced to six months in prison on April 12 by Lagos high court judge Abimbola Awogboro.
The judge ruled that there would be no option for a fine, and the jail term began on March 24, the day of Bobrisky’s arrest.
However, the popular socialite was released on Monday, August 5, 2024, after spending four months in prison.
In a quick interview with Goldmyne Vibes after his release, Bobrisky warned that people could end up in prison for non-violent crimes.
He said, “Don’t spray money, unless you’ll be a landlord inside Kirikiri. It’s not just about killing or any criminal activity, something light like this can take you there.
“I’m only focusing on my friends who were there for me, and I’m grateful. I’m not thinking about any other person.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Bobrisky had challenged the six-month imprisonment handed to him, saying it should be replaced with a fine of N200,000.
