KanyiDaily recalls that PDP recently suspended Senator Dino Melaye due to alleged anti-party activities.
In an interview with Daily Trust, PDP chairman expressed concerns over party loyalty, specifically pointing to Melaye’s actions oduring the recent Kogi governorship election.
Damagum further addressed comments made by Melaye, who reportedly described the PDP as a “once upon a time party.”
The PDP chairman didn’t hold back, stating that Melaye played a role in the party’s struggles.
Damagum revealed that Melaye didn’t even vote for himself during his bid for Kogi governor.
“Let me remind you about that statement credited to Dino. He’s part of the problem,” Damagum said, citing Melaye’s run for governor in Kogi State, where, according to the chairman, the senator didn’t even vote for himself.
“Put that on record: he didn’t go out to vote in his own election,” Damagum emphasised this as a sign of Melaye’s lack of commitment to the party.
The PDP chairman further questioned Melaye’s impact on the party’s reputation, stressing that anyone representing the PDP has a duty to enhance its image.
He acknowledged that while winning and losing are part of politics, candidates should at least lose with dignity.
Melaye has since been suspended from the PDP for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities, deepening the internal divisions within the party.
KanyiDaily recalls that Senator Dino Melaye recently lost Kogi State Governorship election, and announced his decision not to pursue legal action in response to his electoral defeat.
