“We’re Not On Same Level” – KCee Tackles Flavour For Calling Him A ‘Copycat’

Nigerian artist Kingsley Okonkwo, known as KCee, has criticized fellow musician Chinedu Okoli, popularly known as Flavour N’abania, on social media.

The incident began when Flavour posted a message on his X page (formerly Twitter) that seemed aimed at KCee.

In a brief tweet, the Highlife star called out a colleague as a “copycat” in Igbo slang, writing, “Copy copy akaria.”

Although Flavour didn’t directly name anyone, fans quickly assumed he was referring to KCee, who recently shifted his style from Afropop to highlife and Igbo cultural music.

This change seemed to resemble the style Flavour is known for, sparking online discussions.

KCee recently released a new single, “Netfliss,” along with clips from the music video, and some fans noticed its resemblance to Flavour’s popular track “Doings,” which features Phyno.

Reacting in his X page, KCee emphasized that he’s on a different level than Flavour and advising him to choose his battles wisely.

KCee also accused Flavour of acting like a “gatekeeper” of Igbo culture, reminding him that he’s not the sole authority over it.

KCee further noted that he’s been in the industry longer than Flavour and doesn’t need to apologize for making music that celebrates his heritage.

His tweets read: “Bro, We are not on the same level. Pick your battles carefully.

“Stop trying to gatekeep Igbo culture. You’re not a Custodian. I’ve been in this game before you. It belongs to all. You dont own this genre of music.

“My music celebrates our heritage, and I won’t apologize. In an ocean of things that matter. You’re like a needle. Get that right

“People recognize authenticity. I’ll continue celebrating our culture unapologetically. Spend your energy on success, not diminishing mine.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Nigerian businessman, Cubana Chief Priest recently praised Flavour N’Abania for his successful sold-out show at the OVO Arena in Wembley, United Kingdom.
