The Yoruba actor posted a screenshot of the organizer’s message on Instagram, revealing how they requested sponsorship from him in exchange for the award.
Yemi Solade revealed that when he declined, the organizers chose to withhold the plaque, citing cost-saving reasons.
Expressing his frustration, Solade criticized the practice of “selling” awards and stated that he would not participate in such transactions.
The actor condemned the persistent attempts by the organizers to pressure him into supporting the event financially.
He wrote, “I Refused To Pay For The AWARD PLAQUE…This Is The Outcome. @nigerianewsdirect….I don’t belong to the class of AWARD PLAQUES buyers. I asked NIGERIA NEWS DIRECT if the organisation really meant to SELL an award to me because of the consistent tenacity at which I was harassed to support the event. I was compelled to post the final outcome of many days of HIDE and SEEK over the attempt by the lady who had pressed to siphon cash from me.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Yemi Solade recently shared a picture of himself looking sober and the post seemed to hint at him being in a state of depression.
