Taking to his X page on Sunday, Dino Melaye questioned why Bishop David Abioye, a relatively younger senior pastor, was retired while the church’s founder, Bishop David Oyedepo, who is older, remains active.
Shiloh 2024, the annual global convocation of the Winners family, took place from December 10 to 15, 2024.
Earlier in October, the church had announced that two senior vice presidents, Bishop Abioye and Bishop Thomas Aremu, were set to retire after decades of service—over 40 years for Abioye and more than 30 years for Aremu.
The retirements followed a revision in the church’s retirement age, which was lowered from 60 to 55.
At the time of their retirement, Bishop David Abioye was 63, and Bishop Thomas Aremu was 67.
In response to public reactions, Bishop Oyedepo had urged critics to respect the church’s decisions regarding its leadership transitions.
In his X post on Sunday, Dino Melaye revealed he did not attend Shiloh 2024, stating that the event felt incomplete without Abioye.
The former lawmaker went on to claim that Abioye’s retirement was not a divine directive but a man-made decision by Oyedepo.
He wrote: “I did not attend Shiloh 2024. Because Shiloh without Bishop Abioye is somehow.
“I can’t understand why Bishop Oyedepo, who is older, is not retired, and it is Bishop Abioye who is younger that should be forcefully retired.
“God did not retire Abioye, only Oyedepo did. Let’s watch..”
KanyiDaily recalls that Bishop David Oyedepo recently received two luxurious Rolls Royce Cullinan cars as gifts during his 70th birthday celebration.
