Last Friday, VeryDarkMan sparked controversy by alleging that his NGO account had been hacked and N180 million was gone.
However, in a new video shared on Tuesday, VeryDarkMan expressed disappointment with Nigerians for believing the story without verifying the facts.
The activist also criticized the insults directed at him and his mother as a result of the incident which he claimed was a planned stunt meant to test people’s critical thinking skills.
According to him, the prank demonstrated that many Nigerians are quick to believe unverified narratives, citing a similar instance with claims about France having a military base in Nigeria.
VeryDarkMan admitted the prank caused backlash but stood by his actions, saying it was necessary to prove a point.
He added that the NGO’s website was intentionally taken offline as part of the stunt and emphasized that no one asked for evidence before spreading the story.
‘’80% of the people that use social media are dumb and the whole thing that happened with the N180 million is a clear opportunity to show you.
“I deliberately did it to just show you people that you are stupid. No money is missing, my money is secured. The way people are so excited about bad is really sad.
“I told my website guy, shut the website, let us use this people catch cruise. Nobody bothered to ask for evidence. They just went with what is being said. I am so happy I did this.” he said.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Nigerian police had stated that it has no knowledge of or involvement in investigating the alleged theft of ₦180 million from VeryDarkMan’s NGO website.
