In a recent interview with “Rollingout”, Davido reflected on his religious upbringing and how his father’s guidance shaped his perspective.
He revealed that growing up in a devout Christian family, particularly as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, had a profound impact on him.
The musician also disclosed that he attended a Christian college, which further strengthened his foundation in faith.
“My dad is very successful, but he’s an elder in the church. I grew up as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I attended a Christian college,” he said.
Davido recounted how his father’s advice, particularly about accepting hardships without questioning God’s plans, has been a key source of strength.
He said, “I overcame a lot of challenges because of my dad. Initially, I did not understand, but now I’ve come to the realization.
“I was angry. Sometimes, I was like, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ And my dad told me that you can’t question God.”
The singer also spoke about the heartbreaking loss of his son, Ifeanyi Adeleke, and how that tragedy deepened his faith journey.
“I was like, ‘What do you mean you can’t question God?’ And then a year later, we had twins, the biggest album of my career came, and my first Grammy nominations came. Then it started to make sense,” he said.
Davido emphasized that life’s challenges are unique to everyone but believes that his father’s lessons have shown him the power of perseverance and divine timing.
“People go through different challenges, but just know that God has your back,” he concluded.
KanyiDaily recalls that Davido’s close friend, Cubana Chief Priest recently dismissed any suggestions that they are in competition with others in the music industry.
