Sources from Agidigbo FM told SaharaReporters on Thursday that Mr. Hamzat was deeply shaken after witnessing the deaths of some children during the stampede at Islamic High School, Bashorun.
KanyiDaily had reported how the event, organized by Queen Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, turned deadly, with 35 children losing their lives.
Agidigbo FM had actively promoted the festive event in the days leading up to the tragedy.
After the incident, Oriyomi Hamzat was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care, as he was unable to cope with the devastating scenes.
Oyo State government,l hd confirmed that 35 children died in the stampede, while six others remain critically injured.
The police also confirmed the arrest of Queen Naomi and seven others connected to the event.
A source close to Mr. Hamzat revealed he has not recovered from the traumatic experience.
““He(Mr Hamzat) was truly at the event. But when the stampede started and children were collapsing, he could not withstand that ugly scene. So he also fell and he is currently at the hospital,’ the source disclosed.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi offered his deepest condolences to the families of the children who tragically died in a stampede during a funfair in Ibadan.
