Pastor Bolaji Idowu, known for hosting the “Next-Level Prayer Conference,” was arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of real estate fraud and money laundering.
The pastor is under investigation for allegedly being involved in a ₦1.5 billion fraud scheme and was held by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.
According to Sahara Reporters, Pastor Idowu was released late on Tuesday, December 3, after influential figures, including presidential officials and senior pastors, intervened on his behalf.
A police source confirmed, “Pastor Bolaji was released late into the evening after big pastors and President Tinubu’s Aso Villa intervened in the matter.”
As part of his release, Idowu was reportedly asked to return the funds traced to his account within two weeks.
“The case emanated from one of his pastors who duped several people in a real estate scheme” another source said.
Investigations revealed that billions of naira connected to the fraud scheme were moved from the church’s account to Idowu’s personal account.
Pastor Idowu, known for his “Next Level Prayers” platform, has been leading HICC since its founding in 2003. The church, with over 70,000 members worldwide, has branches in Nigeria, the UK, and the US.
KanyiDaily recalls that Davido and his crew were recently spotted at Pastor Bolaji Idowu’s church for the crossover service in Lagos.
