Tinubu Approves Establishment Of Federal University In Southern Kaduna

President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima disclosed this news during a condolence visit to the Kukah family following the death of Yohanna Kukah, the Agwom Akulu of Ikulu Chiefdom.

Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha confirmed the announcement in a statement on Monday titled “President Tinubu okays establishment of federal varsity in Southern Kaduna.’

Yohanna Kukah, the late traditional leader, was a relative of Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto.

Shettima also revealed ongoing discussions about setting up a Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.

Speaking at the Ikulu Kingdom in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, he said: “With Senator Katung and the member of the House of Representatives, we have reached out to President Bola Tinubu, and he has consented to the establishment of a federal university in Southern Kaduna.”

During his visit, the Vice President emphasized Tinubu’s commitment to Southern Kaduna’s development, highlighting the appointment of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff as evidence of the administration’s focus on the region’s security needs.

Be rest assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the people of Kaduna and the people of Southern Kaduna at heart,” Shettima assured.

He also praised Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for his inclusive leadership, noting that governance is about ensuring every region feels represented.

Shettima pledged that the Federal Government would collaborate with the state to address Southern Kaduna’s development needs, particularly in road infrastructure.

Bishop Matthew Kukah, speaking on behalf of the Kukah family, expressed gratitude for Shettima’s visit.

He highlighted the community’s challenges, including poor road conditions, and urged continued support for the Ikulu nation.

Kukah said, “I want to thank you on behalf of this family. Thank you for being with us.”

“You can see the nature of the place in which we live. It took you around three and a half hours to get here. The road is largely broken.

“I know you will remain a friend of this Ikulu nation and a friend of this community. We are honoured to have you.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed recently expressed concerns that President Bola Tinubu’s tax policies will not benefit northern Nigeria.
