The duo made headlines during the festive “Detty December” celebrations in Lagos, with videos showing them enjoying themselves at various events.
These clips sparked widespread speculation about a potential relationship. Despite the online buzz, neither Chlöe Bailey nor Burna Boy initially commented on the rumors.
However, during an interview on “The Breakfast Club” on Wednesday, Chlöe was directly confronted about the speculation.
When asked if Burna Boy would be her date for the upcoming NAACP Image Awards, she dodged the question, saying, “You’ll have to ask him.”
The hosts pressed further, but Chlöe Bailey shifted the conversation, praising her Lagos experience instead.
She spoke about the vibrant energy, the culture, the food, and her love for Nigerian music and the Afrobeats scene, all while avoiding questions about her relationship with Burna Boy.
“Nigeria was so beautiful,” she said, as the hosts erupted into laughter. “I had the best time. It was such a beautiful experience. The energy, the people, the culture—it’s something I’ll never forget.”
When asked directly if they were dating, Chlöe laughed and replied, “I’m a grown woman,” refusing to give a clear answer.
She dismissed the rumors, explaining, “I don’t know where people got that from, but Burna and I are just cool. He’s incredibly talented, and I respect him a lot.”
Addressing additional gossip about Burna being spotted with another woman after she left Lagos, Chlöe simply stated, “He’s a grown man, just like I’m a grown woman.”
The 26-year-old singer also shared her thoughts on dating in the spotlight, saying she understands the public’s curiosity.
“Honestly, I don’t mind,” she admitted. “I hate to say this, but it’s my life. It’s what I sign up for so I can only expect it. It’s just about how I handle it; how I handle myself. So I don’t think it should ever be pissy-ness towards the people who ask me.”
Regardless of whether Burna Boy accompanies her, Chlöe Bailey is set to compete for “Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album” with her hit song “Boy Bye” at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards, scheduled for Saturday, February 22.
