Lagos Assembly Impeaches Mudashiru Obasa, Elects Mojisola Meranda As First Female Speaker

The Lagos State House of Assembly has removed Mudashiru Obasa from his position as speaker.

Following his impeachment, the assembly elected Mojisola Meranda, representing Apapa I, as the new speaker.

Meranda, who was sworn in immediately, becomes the first female speaker in the history of the Lagos legislature.

Obasa, aged 52, had served as speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly since 2015.
