PDP Crisis: I Would’ve Disowned Adolphus Wabara If He Were My Father – Nyesom Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has criticized former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara.

Nyesom Wike accused Adolphus Wabara of fueling tensions between him and the Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara.

During a media briefing in Abuja on Sunday, January 19, Wike stated that if Wabara were his father, he would have disowned him, claiming the PDP chairman lacks the qualities of a true leader.

He also referenced former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s past public accusations of corruption against Wabara.

Wike expressed his disappointment with PDP leaders for pushing to remove the Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and the National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu, despite ongoing court rulings on the matter.

He said, “If Wabara were my father, I would have disowned him. He doesn’t deserve to be a leader. No wonder Obasanjo made a presidential broadcast about his acts of corruption.

Wike emphasized the importance of following due process within the party, especially concerning leadership changes.

He also called for a focus on unity within the party, particularly as the PDP prepares for its convention in December.

Wike said, “It doesn’t bother me at all. The matter is in the hands of the courts, and the party constitution is clear.

“If they resign, they must be replaced through elections. The fact that someone is trying to bypass this process doesn’t surprise me.

“Some people are trying to manipulate the situation, but it will not succeed. The matter is in the courts, and we should respect the rule of law. We need to focus on resolving issues within the party, particularly with the upcoming convention.

“Instead of stoking crises, the convention should take place as scheduled in December, and we should usher in a new executive.”

KanyiDaily recalls that Nyesom Wike previously called on a former Rivers governor, Peter Odili, to stop interfering in his affairs.
