American Rapper, Young Scooter Dies At 39 On His Birthday In Atlanta

American rapper, Young Scooter has died on his 39th birthday in Atlanta.

The rapper passed away on Friday night, March 28, according to reports from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Atlanta Police Department,

During a late-night press conference, Atlanta Police Lt. Andrew Smith provided details about the events leading to Young Scooter’s death.

Police responded to a call regarding a dispute involving a weapon at a residence. When officers arrived, a man inside the home refused to cooperate and shut the door.

Shortly after, two people attempted to escape from the back of the house—one returning inside while the other fled, jumping over two fences.

It was gathered that Young Scooter, whose real name was Kenneth Edward Bailey, was the person who ran.

Smith stated that “when officers located him on the other side of the fence, he appeared to have suffered an injury to his leg.”

Authorities confirmed that Scooter was transported to Grady Marcus Trauma Center, where he later died.

Addressing rumors on social media, Smith denied claims that police shot the rapper.

“Just to be very clear, the injury that was sustained was not via the officers on scene. It was when the male was fleeing.” Smith stated.

Fans and fellow artists mourned his death online. Playboi Carti shared the news on Instagram Stories with the caption “SMFH.”

Quavo posted a broken-heart emoji and a short clip of Scooter performing, writing, “ion understand.”

The rapper’s Instagram Stories were filled with birthday wishes throughout the day.

Born in South Carolina, Young Scooter moved to Atlanta at the age of nine and built his music career there.

He gained recognition in 2012 with his breakout song *Colombia* and collaborated with major artists like Future, Juicy J, and Young Thug on *DI$Function* in 2014.

He appeared on the Billboard charts in 2016 with Young Thug’s *Guwop* and again in 2018 with Future & Juice WRLD’s *Jet Lag*, which peaked at No. 72 on the Hot 100.
