Kano Hisbah Destroys ‘Holy Site’ Where Pilgrims Drank Mud Water Believed To Bear Prophet’s Footprint [Video]

Kano State Hisbah Board has shut down an unofficial pilgrimage site where people had gathered to drink muddy water, believing it came from a spot where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) supposedly left his footprint.

The location, near the Dakata Industrial Area, had recently been cleared for railway construction.

But when a muddy footprint-like mark appeared on the ground and water began seeping out, word spread that it was sacred.

Crowds soon flocked there, collecting the water, bathing in it, and drinking it, thinking it had healing powers.

Reacting to the situation, Deputy Commander of the Kano Hisbah, Muhahideen Aminudeen, said the board acted quickly after receiving reports of the growing crowd.

He called the claims completely false and potentially harmful, noting that there is no religious or historical evidence to support the belief.

He said, “Some mischief makers circulated this bogus story that the place is a holy site where the Prophet set foot.

“Unfortunately, many people who lack sound knowledge of Islam were misled. We deployed officers to the scene to educate the people and dismantle the site to prevent further harm.” 

Aminudeen stressed that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) never came to Africa, let alone Kano, and warned people against blindly following such claims.

He also advised the public not to drink the water, warning that it could be unsafe because of its location near industrial sites.

Hisbah officials are now investigating where the false story originated and urged parents to ensure their children receive proper Islamic education to avoid falling for such misleading beliefs.

“This kind of misinformation can lead people astray and even pose health risks,” he added.

“We call on parents to ensure their children are properly educated in Islamic teachings.”
