Liverpool Star, Mohamed Salah Wins Premier League Player Of Season Award

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been crowned the Premier League Player of the Season, marking the second time he’s received the honor.

The 32-year-old Egyptian star first won the award in the 2017–18 season. This year, he stood out once again, with the winner decided through a mix of public voting and a panel of football experts.

Mohamed Salah played a key role in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, outperforming a competitive list of contenders, including his own teammates Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch.

Gravenberch, who had a standout season, was named Young Player of the Season. The 23-year-old Dutch midfielder led the league in interceptions (59) and was also Liverpool’s top player for winning back possession.

Other top players nominated for the main award included Arsenal’s Declan Rice, Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood.

This season’s results mark a rare shift, as it’s the first time since 2018–19 that no Manchester City player has taken home the award.

The young player shortlist also featured several rising talents, including Liam Delap (Ipswich), Anthony Elanga (Nottingham Forest), Dean Huijsen (Bournemouth), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Joao Pedro (Brighton), Morgan Rogers (Aston Villa), and William Saliba (Arsenal).

Heading into the final game of the season against Crystal Palace, Salah leads the league with 28 goals—five more than any other player—and 18 assists, just two short of the record of 20 shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

This season, Salah also became the Premier League’s top-scoring foreign player, surpassing Sergio Aguero’s 184 goals.

He recently extended his Liverpool contract for two more years, keeping him at the club until 2027.

Earlier this month, Salah also picked up the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award for the third time, earning over 90% of the votes.

KanyiDaily recalls that Mohamed Salah recently signed a new two-year contract that will keep him at Liverpool beyond the 2024-25 season.
