How Ex-Super Eagles Star Treated Me Badly In Iheanacho’s Room – Osimhen

Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen has revealed how he was treated badly by a senior player when he first joined the national team camp.

Osimhen spoke about the incident during a live session with a media personality Carter Efe early on Saturday.

Osimhen explained that he was only 17 years old when he received his first invitation to the Super Eagles camp.

He later made his senior debut in 2017 during a 2-0 defeat to South Africa national football team.

Talking about his early days in camp, Osimhen said he tried to connect with  Kelechi Iheanacho and even offered to help carry his boots.

According to him, Iheanacho then invited him to his room and gave him the room number.

However, when Osimhen got there and knocked, a senior player who was sharing the room opened the door and refused to let him in, sending him away.

Osimhen chose not to reveal the player’s name but said the situation changed when Iheanacho arrived.

When I came, I met Iheanacho. And I told him, ‘Ah, see me, I’m gonna carry your boots.’ So he said I should come to his room, so he gave me his room number,” Osimhen said.

So, as I got to his room — I don’t just want to mention the name — he had a roommate. So, as I knocked on the door, the roommate opened the door. So, he like bounced me out of the room.”

Osimhen noted  that Iheanacho was upset that his guest had been turned away and immediately confronted his roommate before bringing him inside.

Iheanacho showed up and was angry at him, saying, ‘You see that someone came to see me in my room and you are chasing him from my room.’ So Iheanacho took my hand and took me inside,”

Since that experience, Osimhen has gone on to become one of Nigeria’s key players.

He has earned more than 50 caps for the Super Eagles and scored 35 goals, placing him just behind Rashidi Yekini on the country’s all-time scorers list.

He also won the African Player of the Year award in 2023, becoming the first Nigerian to achieve that feat since 1999.
