The remand order was issued by a Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, ahead of his trial set for June 26.
The news was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Wale Ajetunmobi, Senior Special Assistant on Print Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“Mr Olawale Ogunbadejo, caught disposing of refuse on the road, has just been remanded in Kiri-Kiri Prison by the Magistrate’s Court till June 26,” Ajetunmobi posted.
Ogunbadejo, who lives at 25 Ajiboye Street in the Alapere area of Ketu, was captured on video throwing waste on the Alapere Link Bridge on May 21, 2025.
Earlier that same day, the Lagos State Government had appealed to the public for help in locating him, offering a reward for useful information that could lead to his arrest.
He was eventually caught during a joint operation carried out by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as KAI.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Lagos State Government recently announced that it will begin fully enforcing the ban on single-use plastics starting July 1.
