Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Senator Usman accused Abure of continuing to present himself as the national chairman even after being removed from the position.
She said Abure has been using the party for personal gain rather than working to unite its members.
To look into these allegations, the committee has formed a disciplinary panel led by Senator Ireti Kingibe, with Peter Ameh acting as secretary.
Julius Abure has been summoned to appear before the panel to respond to various complaints and charges.
The committee also accused Abure of bypassing due process by failing to organize proper congresses at the ward, local government, state, and zonal levels before holding a national convention.
Senator Usman’s team says they are committed to restoring internal democracy in the party and will soon release a schedule for properly conducted congresses and fresh elections for national executives.
This development follows a recent move by the Abure-led faction to investigate Abia State Governor Alex Otti and others for alleged anti-party behavior.
That faction formed its own disciplinary committee, chaired by Ayo Olorunfemi, and gave it two weeks to report back.
KanyiDaily recalls that Senator Nenadi Usman recently hailed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the earlier judgment by the Court of Appeal in Abuja that had recognized Julius Abure as the party’s National Chairman.
