The traditional ruler reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025.
He was the 19th monarch of Epe and will be buried later today according to Islamic customs.
Speaking to PUNCH, High Chief Musiliu Adeniyi, known as the Odedeogboro Balogun of Epe, confirmed the monarch’s death.
“The news is true. It was this morning. He will be buried 4’O clock today,” Adeniyi said.
Before becoming king, Oba Shefiu Adewale held several key traditional titles.
He first served as Otun-Balogun, then rose to the position of Balogun before eventually being crowned as the Olu of Epe.
Outside the traditional institution, he was a retired Director of Administration at the Ministry of Education and also served as Executive Secretary in the Ministry of Lands.
