Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara attended the burial ceremony on Saturday along the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule.
Fubara and Fubara are both currently suspended from their positions due to the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Their appearance at the burial event comes just days after a peace meeting held in Abuja and led by President Bola Tinubu.
The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa, brought together Wike, Fubara, Amaewhule, and other key players in a bid to ease the months-long political standoff in Rivers.
President Tinubu had previously declared a state of emergency in the state on March 18, 2025, citing escalating insecurity and the collapse of cooperation among top government officials.
This comes amid report that President Bola Tinubu agreed to reinstate Siminalayi Fubara as Rivers governor on the condition he must give up any plans to seek re-election in 2027.
