In a statement released by the national publicity secretary of the faction, Musa Isa Matara, the group criticized the attempt by political elites to take control of the party for their own interests.
Matara said the move to align the ADC with the opposition coalition was made without the input of key party members, including state leaders, youth and women representatives, and grassroots coordinators.
He cautioned those joining the party under the coalition arrangement to be careful, warning that a few individuals were trying to trade the party’s identity for personal benefit.
“We warn those coming into the ADC as part of this imposed arrangement to tread carefully. Be mindful that some few individuals are attempting to sell out the soul of our party for personal gain.
“The ADC is not for sale. It belongs to its members, not political merchants or elite dealmakers,” the statement reads.
This comes after former Senate President David Mark resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he was appointed as the interim chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
