The visit was in line with the eighth-day Fidau prayer held in memory of the respected monarch.
Tinubu, accompanied by his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, arrived at the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport in Iperu around 12:45 p.m.
Upon landing, they were welcomed by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and his wife, former Governor Olusegun Osoba, as well as several other dignitaries.
Those who received the president include the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Prominent traditional rulers and chiefs from Ogun State were also present.
After inspecting a guard of honour at the airport, President Tinubu made his way to the late monarch’s family compound in Ijebu-Ode.
There, he offered prayers at Oba Adetona’s grave and spent time with the monarch’s family to express his condolences.
Oba Sikiru Adetona, who died on July 13 at the age of 91, was buried the following day according to Islamic traditions.
His death marked the end of a historic 65-year reign, making him one of the longest-serving traditional rulers in Nigeria and a well-respected figure in national matters.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Bola Tinubu recently visited Kano State to offer his condolences to the family of late businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away in June.
