Emir Of Zuru, Muhammad Sami Dies In London Hospital

The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammad Sami II (rtd), has died at the age of 81 while receiving medical care in London hospital.

His death was confirmed on Sunday by Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.

Before becoming Emir, Sami served as the military governor of Bauchi State between 1984 and 1985 under the administration of Muhammadu Buhari.

Governor Idris, reacting to the news, said he was deeply saddened by the monarch’s death, describing him as a fatherly figure and a wise elder who was always committed to the well-being of his people.

The late Emir leaves behind four wives and seven children.

In its condolence message, the Kebbi State Government said the Emir would be remembered as a respected leader whose efforts greatly contributed to peace and progress in both the Zuru Emirate and the state as a whole.

The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami, has passed away on Saturday night.

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsinmari disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

The Monarch died at the age of 81 years in a London hospital after an illness.

He left behind four wives and seven children.

The Kebbi State Government is using this medium to extend its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family members, Zuru Emirate Council, Zuru people and the entire people of Kebbi State.

May the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.

Burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.

KanyiDaily also reported how Abdullahi Balla, the APC secretary in Gwargwada Ward, Kuje Area Council of the FCT, died after suddenly collapsing while returning from the farm in Abuja.
