The INEC confirmed the development on its website on Wednesday following a restructuring process in the ADC that produced new national officers to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the list published by INEC, David Mark is serving as interim national chairman, while former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola has been named national secretary.
Others recognised include ex-Edo governor Oserheimen Osunbor as national legal adviser, Ibrahim Mani as national treasurer, and Akibu Dalhatu as national financial secretary.
The ADC was officially adopted as the political platform for an opposition coalition on July 2, 2025.
The coalition said its aim is to contest the presidency and other major seats in 2027, promising to “rescue” Nigeria from what it described as looming collapse.
Speaking at the unveiling, Mark said the coalition was not only about winning power but about rebuilding Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
He accused the APC-led Federal Government of weakening democracy and pushing the country toward “civilian dictatorship.”
According to him, the ruling party has infiltrated opposition groups to eliminate alternatives ahead of 2027.
Prominent political figures at the unveiling included 2023 presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, along with former governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna and Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers.
Others in attendance were Senator Dino Melaye, ex-Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalong, Dele Momodu, Senator Gabriel Suswam, Labour Party’s Senator Ireti Kingibe, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Emeka Ihedioha, and retired Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, a former Chief of Air Staff.
At the event, Ralph Nwosu, the former national chairman of the ADC, officially handed over leadership and presented party membership cards to Mark and Aregbesola, confirming them as interim chairman and secretary.
KanyiDaily recalls that ADC recently accused the federal government of using the police to intimidate opposition figures instead of addressing the country’s worsening insecurity.
