Hilda Baci Receives Second Guinness World Record Plaque For Largest Jollof Rice Pot

Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has received her second Guinness World Record plaque, confirming her achievement for cooking the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.

KanyiDaily recalls that Guinness World Records confirmed that Hilda Baci prepared a total of 8,780 kilograms (19,356 pounds) of jollof rice during a cookout in Lagos held in September, setting a new global record.

This latest milestone comes just over a year after she earned her first Guinness title in May 2023 for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon, which made her a household name across Nigeria and beyond.

With both feats, Baci becomes the first Nigerian chef to hold multiple Guinness World Records, cementing her place in culinary history.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the chef posted photos of her plaques and described the achievement as a story of “faith, fire, and history.”

“Our plaques are finally here !!! Two records. Two plaques. One story of faith, fire, and history. Twice, God showed up for me. Twice, we made history for Nigeria.

“And not just any records, two of the biggest culinary records ever set. Together with Gino, we created something bigger than ourselves, a story that reached over five billion people and reminded the world what’s possible when passion meets purpose. I’m a two-time world record holder, someone pinch me,” she wrote.

Baci celebrated the record as a win for Nigeria’s creativity and food culture, adding that the cookout, done in partnership with Gino, reached over five billion people worldwide.

She also quoted Isaiah 61:7, saying her journey was proof that “instead of shame, you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

The record-breaking jollof rice event attracted more than 20,000 people, including celebrities and influencers, with all portions of the massive meal shared among attendees and charity groups in line with Guinness verification rules.
