The Danish Deception: Nigerian-American Reality Star Onyeka Ehi Details $500,000 Scam by Alleged Danish Prince

A U.S. based Nigerian-American woman, Onyeka Ehi known for her appearance on the reality tv show ”The Bachelor” and her growing TikTok presence has gone viral after sharing a detailed account of how she was allegedly deceived and financially exploited by a man she believed to be a Danish prince. Ehi’s series, titled “The Danish Deception,” has gained significant traction on TikTok, where she recounts losing more than $500,000 in what she describes as a long-term romance scam.

According to Ehi, the story began in 2022 at a beach club in Croatia, where she met a “tall, charming man” who claimed to be a Danish prince. She says there was “instant chemistry.”

From there, the relationship escalated rapidly. She alleges that he flew her to Monaco, booked luxury hotels, took her on lavish trips including to Saint-Tropez and showered her with expensive gifts, some of which she says she declined to avoid appearing materialistic.

Ehi says she fell deeply in love, believing she had met her soulmate.

The illusion allegedly shattered when the man claimed that his millions had been “temporarily tied up” and that the IRS had frozen his accounts. He requested what he described as a small loan of $6,000, which, according to Ehi, snowballed into tens of thousands as they continued planning a wedding, a shared life, and even U.S. permanent residency.

Ehi reports that during a visit to Denmark to meet his family, she noticed inconsistencies in his background stories, yet remained in the relationship.

She later discovered, she says, that he had a severe gambling addiction and had borrowed money from multiple people, including $200,000 from her friend’s husband, smaller amounts from friends, and even $3,000 from her younger sister.

Eventually, Ehi claims that after securing a U.S. green card through marriage, he abruptly requested a divorce and vanished, leaving her with more than $500,000 in debt.

Although she did not reveal his identity online, internet users have begun circulating his name and photos.

The story has sparked heated debates across TikTok, particularly among Black women content creators, some of whom expressed skepticism about Ehi’s narrative.

Several creators argue that the inconsistencies in the man’s claims; including being a Danish prince and an Olympic medalist could have been easily disproved with basic online searches. Some contend that Ehi may have ignored red flags due to what they describe as a desire to be validated by a white partner.

According to these commentators, Ehi remained in the relationship despite mounting evidence that something was wrong, partly because of the social image the relationship created: attractive couple photos, luxury travel, and perceived admiration from friends.

Others argue she may have been caught in a cycle of romantic delusion and emotional manipulation, a common dynamic in long-term scams.

Ehi’s story, whether viewed as a complex scam, an emotional vulnerability, or a mix of both has sparked conversations about online deception, interracial relationship dynamics, the glamorization of “fairy-tale” romances, and the psychological grip of love-bombing.

For many viewers, the case serves as a reminder of how financial, emotional, and psychological manipulation can coexist within a relationship, regardless of appearances or social status.

Onyeka’s story is similar to TikToker Reesa Teesa (@reesamteesa) Who TF Did I Marry” viral TikTok series where she recounts being married to a “pathological liar” she nicknamed “Legion”. The story details how her now-ex-husband lied extensively about his life, from his career and financial status to his identity, and how the relationship unraveled until their divorce just six months after marrying in January 2021. The series gained massive popularity for its detailed and compelling storytelling, which Reesa Teesa shared in a series of 50+ videos totaling over eight hours.
