In a statement released on Monday, APC national publicity secretary Felix Morka called the reports “speculative, untrue and utterly baseless”.
The APC said the rumours grew louder recently as names of potential replacements began circulating in the media.
“Our party states in categorical terms that the stories are purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless,” the statement reads.
The APC urged media outlets not to spread rumours coming from what it described as ” mischievous news sources of questionable provenance”.
Morka said these stories are designed to create confusion and division.
He also reminded the public that the ban on political activities remains in place under current laws and electoral rules.
Morka added that the party is focused on supporting President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s “renewed hope” agenda.
” At this time, our party remains focused on supporting President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in delivering the administration’s renewed hope agenda,” the statement added.
He said the government’s reforms are gradually improving the economy, boosting prosperity, and raising living standards.
The APC also warned ministers, senior officials, and party leaders not to encourage unnecessary speculation, urging them instead to concentrate on their duties and support the administration’s work.
The statement comes after an APC stakeholders’ summit in Gombe in June 2025 became chaotic when some speakers praised Tinubu for a second term without mentioning Shettima.
