Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Thursday, Pastor Okafor addressed fresh controversy surrounding accusations from the actress, including claims of a past relationship, a failed promise of marriage, and alleged involvement in her brother’s death.
He said: “The same person who accused me of murder is the same person crying that I want to abandon her and marry someone else. How could she want to marry someone who allegedly killed her brother?.
“There is so much about the matter than meets the ordinary eye, and so many unanswered questions and glaring lies”.
Pastor Chris Okafor denied all Doris Ogala’s allegations, calling them false and harmful.
He also accused bloggers and social media influencers of fueling the controversy for online attention, describing the situation as a form of cyberbullying.
“The allegations were coming from a woman I had never met. Then my ex-wife joined and came up with the assertion that I was trying to defile one of our daughters.
The cleric further alleged that his former wife later joined the accusations, claiming he had attempted to abuse one of their daughters.
He rejected the claim and said it was inconsistent, especially since he had been asked by her to provide about ₦80 million for school fees and living expenses abroad.
“The same ex-wife and daughter have gone to a popular blogger to ask that I pay for their school fees and upkeep abroad of about N80 million. The same father trying to defile them? Which woman will do that?, ”he added.
The pastor said many people in the country have suffered damage to their reputations because of unverified claims spread online without consequences.
According to him, the controversy worsened after details of his plan to remarry were leaked by a wedding planner.
He claimed that after the information became public, several people tried to take advantage of the situation.
Pastor Okafor also referred to his 2014 divorce case, in which he cited infidelity, violence, and irreconcilable differences.
He said, “All these began after my plans to remarry were leaked by our wedding planner. All hell broke loose, and everyone tried to cash in on it.
“In our divorce proceedings in 2014, which I instituted at an Ikeja court, the reasons on the document were infidelity, violence, lack of love and the marriage was dissolved for irreconcilable differences.
“At no point during the proceedings did my ex-wife mention I was trying to defile our daughter.
“The court awarded me custody of our children, and no one queried those allegations!. If, as a pastor, I can survive these lies, what happens to an average Nigerian?”
Okafor expressed concern over what he described as a public trial on social media without evidence or a fair hearing.
He criticised bloggers and influencers for publishing unverified stories, saying many often avoid accountability even after harming people’s reputations.
He said: “It is so sad that most of the so-called influencers we have often connived with come up with fabulous lies to attract traffic to their blogs.
“Many Nigerians have suffered and are still suffering from the lies of bloggers, and most often, they get away with it after destroying the image of their targets.
“Very few times, some of the influencers were arrested and dragged to court, but 90 per cent of them often go free for far-fetched lies against people.
” Nigeria must find a way to safeguard its internet space, especially to ensure that innocent citizens do not get shattered over lies, demeaning their image.”
He called for stronger regulation of online platforms and urged lawmakers to introduce laws that would hold offenders accountable.
He also appealed to cybercrime authorities to intensify efforts to track and prosecute online defamation.
Reflecting on the experience, Okafor said he was disappointed that many people did not question the claims before spreading them.
He assured his followers that the truth would eventually come out and maintained that he has never been arrested or convicted of any crime in his 55 years of life.
“In the 55 years of my existence on earth, I have never been arrested for any crime or offence. It is so sad how far people can go to destroy,” he added.
KanyiDaily recalls that Doris Ogala made several allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor, claiming he sent her nude videos of his alleged daughters.
