“You Can’t Send Me To Prison” – Detoun Onajobi Slams Governor Abiodun [Video]

Nigerian activist Detoun Adejobi has reacted after the Ogun State Police Command filed six charges against her over allegations that she cyberbullied Governor Dapo Abiodun on social media.

The charges were filed at the Abeokuta High Court days after the police accused Detoun of making false and abusive statements about the governor online.

The issue began in December 2025, following a fatal road accident in Ogun State that claimed the lives of two friends of heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.

After the incident, Detoun shared a video online accusing Ogun Government of failing to provide basic emergency services, including ambulances.

In the video, the activist criticised Governor Abiodun’s leadership, accusing him of neglecting governance and failing to prioritise the welfare of residents.

On January 19, the Ogun police announced that it had filed charges against Detoun, accusing her of cyberbullying and spreading false information about the governor.

The police also claimed she ignored an invitation for questioning and submitted a medical report to excuse her absence, which they later described as fake.

According to the police, the doctor who issued the medical report to Detoun Adejobi was arrested.

Reacting on her Instagram page, Detoun denied evading the police, explaining that she received the invitation and replied that she would be available on January 27.

She expressed surprise that the police issued a statement on January 19 accusing her of avoiding them.

The activist also rejected claims that she cyberbullied the governor, insisting that she was only speaking on behalf of Ogun State residents.

According to her, the governor focuses more on social events than addressing the state’s problems.

Detoun compared Ogun to Lagos State, claiming that Lagos government respond to public complaints, while Ogun officials allegedly ignore residents’ concerns.

She said, ‘’What legacies are you living? an uncompassionate man…what legacies have you left in six years and what legacy are you living afterwards? Look at how Ogun state is looking anyhow now?

“You now look at me and think I am politically motivated? I am speaking for my people and my people do not need to like the way I speak.

“Dapo, I have brought you so low to where you are supposed to be! You ignored us for so many years and we refuse any subdued governance. You must be held accountable to us. When we talk you will listen to us.

“You said you will make sure you send me to prison? Dapo! You do not know the person who is standing in front of you.

” Me! Those who handed over to you didn’t tell you they couldn’t succeed? Dapo! It is our country! This is our country! You cannot subdue me ‘’

The activist also accused public office holders of using cybercrime laws to silence Nigerians.

She argued that as an elected official, the governor should be open to criticism and public scrutiny wherever he goes.

Detoun said she is not afraid of the legal action taken against her and insisted she would stand by her allegations.

She accused the governor of attempting to intimidate her and maintained that she is ready to defend herself in court.

The activist further criticised the governor for travelling abroad for social events while, according to her, insecurity and other challenges persist in the state.

She said, ‘’I told you you do not have home training, Dapo. If you have home training, you will not be gloating and rantting and using power up and down.

“You are so desperate to go to the Senate yet you cannot protect us, you cannot defend us? Who the hell are you Dapo? People are saying that I abused you? when I was begging and crying, how many people saw it?’

“Dapo, this battle is for me and you, bring it on, I have said it. I a not running. What is backing me and standing by me is bigger than you. What will make me fall is not in your hand.

“You cannot lock me up in any prison., stop gloating. Your predecessors were not successful at it. Face me! Prove me what I have alleged, I am ready to prove.

“Your state is not at peace yet you flew to France to attend a party. Always going to parties!’ Detoun Adejobi said in anger.
