The gathering is taking place at the Rainbow Event Centre after the party said it could not secure earlier locations.
On Monday, the ADC claimed it was refused access to both Eagle Square and Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
The party later confirmed the new venue but also raised concerns that the event centre’s management was being pressured to cancel their booking.
Speaking on Tuesday, Dino Melaye said the convention would go ahead regardless of the difficulties.
He explained that despite paying and signing an agreement for the venue, there were still issues with access and facilities, including the air conditioning system.
“We are using this place by force,” Dino Melaye said.
“After paying for this place, signing contractual agreements, they refused to let us use it. We don’t know where to turn on the central air conditioners.
“But we are working on getting the ACs on. Even if it is in a motor park, the convention will hold today. They don’t want it to hold, but by the grace of God, the convention will hold today.”
He added that efforts were being made to fix the cooling system, while alternative measures like bringing in fans were also being arranged.
