Speaking during an appearance on the KaaTruths podcast, Orjisais many Nigerians rely too much on unverified social media stories instead of checking facts for themselves.
The actor recalled an experience in the United Kingdom where some people questioned him over his public support for Tinubu.
According to him, he told them there was nothing wrong with supporting the president of his own country, especially when he believes the administration is moving in the right direction.
Orji said he remains patient with the government because major reforms usually take time before the results become clear.
He explained that reforms are never easy because they are meant to replace an old system with a new one, which often comes with temporary difficulties.
“Nigerians do not research, they run with the things they see on social media and I will tell you that three quarters of what you see on social media are not true. But you know the saying about give a dog a bad name so that you can kill it. That is what is happening, people are not researching,” he said.
“I was in the UK sometime last year and I was accosted by some people, ‘why are you supporting this man? Why are you supporting Tinubu?’. I said why would I not support him? He is the president of my country, do you want me not to support the president of my country if I am convinced that he is doing things in the right way?
“And if I am willing to be patient and allow him time? Reforms are not easy because reforms come to change the old order and bring a new order. But a lot of Nigerians, they do not do any research, they just run away with what they hear or the negative information that has been peddled and they start talking without knowledge.”
Zack Orji further claimed that the administration’s economic reforms are beginning to show positive signs, pointing to what he described as a noticeable drop in food prices.
When he was reminded during the podcast that many Nigerians are still struggling with hunger and economic hardship, he responded that “hunger is a universal issue and did not begin with the Tinubu administration”.
The actor recently described Tinubu as the strongest and most qualified figure likely to contest Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
KanyiDaily recalls that Zack Orji recently opened up about how a nude scene he acted with colleague Eucharia Anunobi affected him and his marriage.
