Alexx Ekubo Died From Liver Cancer Complications After Transplant – Stanley Ontop

Nollywood filmmaker Stanley Ontop has revealed that late actor Alexx Ekubo had been privately battling stage 4 liver cancer since 2024.

His statement came shortly after reports of the actor’s death on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, leaving many fans and colleagues in the movie industry shocked.

As questions continued to grow over the cause of Alexx Ekubo’s death, Stanley Ontop has opened up about the health challenges he allegedly faced in secret.

In a post shared on Instagram, Stanley said Alexx had been receiving treatment for advanced liver cancer and later underwent a liver transplant in an effort to recover.

According to him, the actor briefly returned to acting after the surgery, but his health later worsened when the transplanted liver reportedly failed again, leading to further complications.

Stanley also appealed to the public to stop sharing unconfirmed stories surrounding the actor’s death and urged Nigerians to respect the privacy of the bereaved family.

“We request that everyone allow Alex to rest in peace and respect the privacy of his family during this difficult time.

“Alex was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer in 2024. After undergoing treatment and a liver transplant, he briefly returned to work.

“Unfortunately, the liver failed again and complications arose, and his condition deteriorated until his passing. His remains have been deposited at the morgue. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
