Drake Bets $1 On Morocco To Beat His Country Canada At World Cup Round Of 16

Canadian rapper Drake is trying a different approach to support Canada’s men’s national football team ahead of their FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash against Morocco on Saturday.

The rapper has long been linked to the so-called “Drake curse,” a popular sports superstition suggesting that athletes or teams he publicly supports often go on to lose.

Over the years, the trend has become a talking point among sports fans whenever he is seen backing a team or posing with an athlete before an important event.

In recent times, however, the rapper has enjoyed better luck with his sports predictions. He previously placed a $770,000 bet on Canada to defeat South Africa in the country’s first-ever World Cup knockout match.

Canada secured that victory following a dramatic late goal from Stephen Eustaquio at SoFi Stadium, booking their place in the Round of 16 under head coach Jesse Marsch.

Now preparing to face a strong Moroccan side in Houston after leaving behind the home support they enjoyed during the group stage as tournament co-hosts, Canada faces another major test.

Instead of betting on his own country this time, Drake has opted for what he called a “reverse curse” strategy.

The 39-year-old shared an Instagram screenshot of a betting slip showing he staked just $1 on Morocco to win the match on the Stake betting platform.

If Morocco advances to the quarter-finals for the second consecutive World Cup, the bet would return only $1.41.

Sharing the post, Drake wrote, “Won the last time… gonna try reverse curse strategy @stake.”

The unusual bet quickly caught the attention of fans, with many reacting in the comments. Some were surprised that Drake backed Morocco instead of Canada, while others joked about the tiny amount he decided to stake.
