APC Senator Fadahunsi Honours Police Invitation Over Threat To ‘Kill’ Accord Members In Osun

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has responded to the police invitation issued over his controversial “kill Accord” comment.

Fadahunsi arrived at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, at about 2pm on Wednesday to meet with police authorities.

The senator was invited after a video of him addressing supporters in Yoruba went viral on social media.

In the video, the lawmaker appeared to instruct members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attack members of the rival Accord Party during the election period.

Fadahunsi was heard saying that whenever APC supporters came across Accord members, they should “kill” them, adding that he authorised such action.

The remarks sparked widespread criticism and raised concerns about possible political violence ahead of the Osun governorship election.

Following the backlash, Fadahunsi clarified that his statement was not a call for physical attacks.

He said he had used the words metaphorically to urge APC supporters to defeat the Accord Party through their votes and by peaceful, legal means.

The police had earlier written to the senator on August 11, 2026, asking him to explain the circumstances surrounding the remarks allegedly made during an APC campaign event in Ilesa.

Meanwhile, the Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has reacted to the senator’s comments, saying Fadahunsi should be held accountable if violence is carried out against members or supporters of the Accord Party.

The council also claimed that the video supported its earlier allegations that suspected thugs and individuals posing as police officers had been brought into Ilase, Fadahunsi’s hometown, and other areas across Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West local government areas.
