“I Will Win Osun Election” – Governor Adeleke Declares After Casting Vote

Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed confidence that he will win the ongoing governorship election.

Adeleke spoke after casting his vote at Polling Unit 09, Ward 02, Sagba, in Ede North Local Government Area at about 8:33 a.m. on Saturday.

The governor arrived at the polling station around 8:30 a.m. with a large crowd of supporters, and was accredited before casting his ballot.

Adeleke said voting was peaceful at his polling unit but raised concerns about alleged attempts to disrupt the election in other parts of the state.

“I’ve done my civic duty. I’ve voted. And as of now, things are going on peacefully, and I hope it stays that way,” Adeleke said.

He called on security agencies to remain neutral and ensure voters can cast their ballots without fear or intimidation.

The governor also alleged that a police officer known as “London” had been brought from Port Harcourt to Ede to cause trouble and discourage people from voting.

He urged Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu and other security authorities to investigate the allegation and take appropriate action if necessary.

“His job is to come and destroy Ede, and then leave, so that he can scare people by shooting so that they will not vote,” he alleged.

Adeleke further accused the APC of planning to manipulate the election with fake ballot papers.

He called on voters to remain alert and protect the integrity of the voting process.

“I have it on authority that the APC are trying to rig and have some fake ballot papers. I want Osun people to watch out for that. We will not accept that in Osun,” he said.

The governor also expressed concern about the collation of results.

He insisted that results should move from polling units to wards, then to local government areas before reaching the state collation centre.

“And the pattern of voting should be from Unit to Ward, and to Local Government. Not that they will take Local Government collation straight to the State Capital. That is unacceptable. That’s a form of rigging,” he said.

Adeleke also claimed that voters in Modakeke and Obaagun faced disruptions, alleging that security personnel used tear gas to disperse people.

He further claimed that suspected thugs took away a ballot box in one of the locations.

He urged security agencies to respond quickly to reports of violence and protect voters throughout the election.

“Let the security agencies please be neutral and watch it,” he said.

Despite the allegations, Adeleke said he remained hopeful that the election would be peaceful and credible.

He encouraged voters to stay at their polling units and follow the voting procedures set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The governor said the election was an opportunity for Osun residents to choose who would lead the state for the next four years.

“But I can assure you, at the end of the day, I have God on my side, and I have my people on my side. I will win this election,” Adeleke declared.
