Agbro had travelled from Warri to Asaba on June 1, 2026, after Odogwu Asaba allegedly offered to mentor her and help her develop her skills in content creation.
The 20-year-old later accused Odogwu Asaba in a viral video of taking her to a hotel and sexually assaulting her.
The incident was followed by reports that Favour Agbro, who was said to have suffered severe emotional distress, later died by suicide.
Following a petition submitted by human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe, police arrested Odogwu Asaba.
The Delta State Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, also confirmed the arrest.
In a video released after the arrest, Odogwu Asaba’s wife said she remained firmly behind her husband and rejected the allegations against him.
She argued that accusations made on social media should not be treated as established facts, stressing that the matter should be handled through the proper legal process.
According to her, she had taken time to learn more about the case before speaking publicly and she did not believe her husband was responsible for Agbro’s death or that he sexually assaulted her.
She acknowledged that a life had been lost and said the situation was painful, but maintained that her husband only had a relationship with the deceased and did not rape her.
The woman repeatedly insisted that she knew her husband well and was convinced he was incapable of committing the alleged offence.
Odogwu Asaba’s wife said she would continue to support hee husband while the case is being investigated and handled through the appropriate authorities.
She said, “Odogwu Asaba is my husband, and I stand with him 100%. I am not going to turn my back on him.
“How I feel, what I feel, and how I see this matter is my personal decision. I want to let you people know that everything is not actually how they presented it. Before I could come out to talk, I learnt a lot about this matter.
“Social media is not a courtroom, and we do not do these things with emotions.
“Yes, someone has d!ed and that is why we are taking it easy. Someone has d!ed and it is painful, but Odogwu Asaba did not kill anybody. He did not rape Favour.
“He only had an affair with the said girl. There is no way Odogwu Asaba raped Favour. I know my husband. He didn’t. He can’t rape. He has never!”
