Poco Lee Remanded In UK Prison Over Alleged Assault

Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is reportedly being detained in custody in the United Kingdom over an alleged assault offence.

The dancer is expected to appear before the Snaresbrook Crown Court in London for a plea hearing in September.

Benjamin Kuti, also known as the Oluomo of Derby and founder of a Nigerian community group in the UK, confirmed the development.

Kuti said Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison and is expected to appear in court during the second week of September.

“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison. His next court date is scheduled for the second week of September, when he is expected to have a plea hearing,” he tweeted.

Kuti also said he plans to attend the hearing to support the Nigerian dancer and ensure he receives assistance from the Nigerian community in the UK.

I will also be attending the court proceedings as part of my support for the Nigerian community in the UK, to ensure that our fellow Nigerian receives the appropriate support during this difficult period of his life.

“Supporting members of our community in situations like this is something I do regularly, including visiting some of our community members who are currently in prison. It is important that we allow the legal process to take its course. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention began circulating on social media on August 19, although details about the alleged incident have not been fully disclosed.

Poco Lee is well known in Nigeria for his dance performances, entertainment appearances and social media presence.

His upcoming court appearance is expected to shed more light on the allegation and the case against him.
