Police Summons APC’s Senator Fadahunsi Over Threat To ‘Kill’ Accord Members In Osun

The Osun State Police Command has invited Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, for questioning over his controversial “kill Accord” comment that has gone viral on social media.

The invitation came after widespread criticism of a video in which Fadahunsi allegedly told supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to attack members of the rival Accord Party during the electoral process in parts of the state.

According to a police invitation letter seen by TheCable and dated August 11, 2026, the senator was asked to explain the circumstances surrounding the remarks he allegedly made at an APC campaign event in Ilesa on Tuesday.

The letter was signed by Samuel Etaifo Erale, the Commissioner of Police for Elections in Osun State.

Fadahunsi was directed to appear before the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Osogbo at 11am on Wednesday, August 12.

“The invitation is premised on information in possession of the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned programme, you made statements considered to be threatening, inciting and intimidating in nature, and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms,” the document reads.

A video shared on social media on Tuesday showed Fadahunsi speaking in Yoruba, telling APC supporters to lynch members of the Accord Party.

The remarks sparked strong reactions online, prompting the senator to clarify his position.

Fadahunsi later said his comments had been misunderstood and insisted that he was not calling for violence.

His media team explained that the statement was intended to encourage APC supporters to defeat the Accord Party through their votes in the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement titled “Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence,” the senator’s team described his remarks as political and metaphorical, stressing that he was calling for a peaceful electoral victory rather than physical attacks.

The controversy comes amid rising political tension in Osun State ahead of the governorship election.

The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking another term under the Accord Party, has repeatedly alleged that APC supporters and suspected political thugs have attacked members of his camp, with some incidents resulting in deaths.
